The UEFA Champions League is an annual continental club football competition organized by UEFA and contested by top-division European clubs. Million supporters are looking forward for this glorious competition. Winning Champions League is the biggest dream of every football player.

The UEFA Champions League is the most prestigious club competition in European football. In tournament appears top-division European clubs. National league champions and in case of high-quality European leagues such as La Liga or Premier League are playing two or more runners-up. The teams which haven´t qualified for Champions League can qualify for UEFA Europa League.

The predecessor of competition is European Cup, which took place during the 1955-56 season. Tournament was played in play-off style and Real Madrid won trophy in first five seasons. In 1992-93 season, the competition was re-organized to today´s form.

Anthem of competition called "Champions League" was written by Tony Britten. Anthem's chorus is played before every UEFA Champions League game, as well as at the beginning and end of television broadcasts of the matches.

In current shape is tournament divided to 4 qualifying rounds, group stage and knockout phase. 32 teams qualify to group stage, in which they are divided to 8 groups. 4 teams in every group, the first two teams advance to knockout phase, the third team advance to Europa League´s knockout phase.

The final of the tournament has been the most-watched sport event recently. About 360 million television viewers enjoyed TV broadcast of the 2013 final. The tournament's current main sponsors are: Heineken, Gazprom, Nissan, MasterCard and UniCredit.

The most successful team in history of competition is Real Madrid with 11 wins. Followed by Milan with 7 trophies and Bayern Munich winning 5 times. Most appearances made Iker Casillas (156). All-time top scorer is Cristiano Ronaldo with 93 goals in 127 apps, followed by Lionel Messi (83/106) and Raúl (71/142).

In recent years, Spanish teams playing in La Liga are in power of the competition by winning in last 3 seasons. Last year Real Madrid beat Atletico Madrid 2:1 on penalties.
