The 2015–16 Russian Premier League was the 24th season of the premier football competition in Russia since the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the 14th under the current Russian Premier League name.
CSKS Moscow won the title with 65 points in 30 games. It was their third in last 4 season. They entered Champions League group stage. FK Rostov ended up second with 2 points gap. They entered Champions League too. Zenit finished third (59 points) and entered Europa League group stage. Krasnodar and Spartak Moscow entered Europa League qualifying round. Krasnodar recorded 56 and Spartak Moscow 50 points.
Dynamo Moscow and Mordovia Saransk were relegated. Anzhi Makhachkala and Kuban Krasnodar played relegation play-off. Kuban failed in two-length battle with Tomsk and was relegated.
Fyodor Smolov became the top-scorer of the league. He scored 20 goals. Quincy Promes scored 17 and Hulk 16. Hulk assisted on 16 goals. Spartak Moscow had the highest average attendance - 27,864 spectators per single match
Transfer window
Champions got Monaco´s forward Lacina Traoré on loan. Leicaster bought their striker Ahmed Musa for £16.58m. Zenit bought centre back Ivan Novoseltsev from SK Rostov (£8.50m). Very important players left the club. Striker Hulk went to Chinese league for £47.43m, centre back Ezequiel Garay moved to Velancia for £20.40m.
Krasnodar bought
centre back Naldo from Sporting for £3.83m and Stanislav Kritsyuk from Braga (£3.40m).
Ragnar Sigurdsson left the club for Fulham. Rostav purchased talented striker Sardar
Azmoun for £1.96m. Centre back Bastos left the club. Lazio bought him for £5.53m.
